Introduction

General Information

Social work is a profession and academic discipline that contributes to social change, problem solving in human relations, empowerment, emancipation and improving social health in order to increase the well-being of individuals, families, groups and society. Human rights principles and social justice are fundamental in social work. The social work profession gives individuals the opportunity to know themselves and guide them in realizing the best interests of people, which is the main goal of social work. The purpose of social work is to enable every person to fully develop their potential, enrich their lives and prevent dysfunction. The social work profession is focused on problem solving and change. Accordingly, social workers are agents of change in the community and in the lives of the individuals, families and communities.

 History

The Department of Social Work was established in 2020 within the Faculty of Health Sciences of Çankırı Karatekin University, and started education and training activities with 39 students in the 2020-2021 academic year. The education language of the department, whose education period is four years, is Turkish.
